Taking photographs from different view points or perspectives and considering your position in relation to the objects or view can radically alter how a subject is perceived. I played with taking photographs from different angles to alter the view point and to see how it possibly changed the nature of the photograph. A different viewpoint can transform the scale of the focus or the surroundings and reveal different textures within the photograph.

Coloured photographs

I attempted to take these pictures from unique angles

Even though these photographs were taken consecutively, playing with the different angles also produced a difference in the colours which I wasn’t expecting The different perspectives also alters the apparent size of the arena. I like the textures that appear in the wood in the central photograph.

Black and White photographs

I took this photograph to play with perspective – having the sign close to the camera makes it appear much bigger than it actually is. This was echoed in my picture of the column of the wall which I took from the ground looking upwards making it appear much taller in scale.

Inspiration – “Devour” – Christopher Jonassen

The inspiration for these photographs comes from those taken by Christopher Jonassen for his “Devour” project. Jonassen took photographs of the bottom of a worn saucepan in different lights to create images looking remarkably like planet Earth.

My photographs – Circles

I attempted to take photographs to look like the moon in the night sky and then looked at different objects that may create the same effects.

The photograph to my left of a lightbulb I feel is the most successful in creating an image to look like the moon. The simplicity of the photograph and the clarity of the circle make the photograph particularly appealing. However, I do think the effect of the light leaching into the background is interesting in the photograph above which I took to try to demonstrate light pollution.

I took the photograph on the left because the circles produced reminded me of a gyroscope which fitted in with my ideas about the moon and planets. The clarity of the photo worked well although I would have liked the image to be more centred. in the photo above, I was attempting to produce an eclipse effect which wasn’t very successful.
